TES FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER & LITTLE LIBRARY

The TES little library and parent resource center is located outside of the office. Families may borrow games, materials, and resources to strengthen your student's literacy and math skills. We are excited to share these materials with our families. Be sure to check it out the next time you visit TES.

Kandi Austin

Hi Tomahawk families!
My name is Kandi Austin, and I’m excited to join Tomahawk Elementary as one of the new Reading Interventionists.

I began my teaching career as a first-grade teacher and enjoyed teaching at that grade level for 8 years. In 2016, I moved into the role of Reading Specialist, and I have loved helping students grow as confident readers ever since.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and learning new things. I’m so happy to be part of the Tomahawk community and to officially become a "Bee!"

Colleen Poole

Hello Tomahawk parents, guardians, and students!  I am so excited to “Bee” joining the Tomahawk family as one of the Reading Interventionists. I currently live in the Lynchburg area with my husband and two daughters. I graduated from the University of Lynchburg and later returned to school to complete my Reading Specialist certification at Longwood University.

I have taught for 17 years in the classroom and 5 years as a Title I Reading teacher. My roles have included teaching 3rd grade and 1st grade before becoming a Reading Specialist. I have loved helping students succeed as readers by providing them with the skills they need to grow in confidence and ability.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading new books, going for runs, baking, and being outdoors. I am thrilled to join the Tomahawk family.
